# Exporting from Maya

With your character ready for export as per the guidance notes, select the top node of the hierarchy, go to Select > Hierarchy to ensure everything you need is selected. Remember to delete the blendshape meshes beforehand, as this can add to file size.

Now go to **File > Export Selection** and choose the Options Box. Choose FBX export as your File type. Here are the settings for that section;

Now, go to Edit Preset and have the following settings;
